ABOUT THE MARIMBA COLLECTIVE
The Marimba Collective started out as an idea from three friends and former film school colleagues to combine their experience in classical music with the eye of film professionals.
The three of us have worked a lot with film and video, but we all ended up in classical music through different ways, an area for which we've all fallen in love. At the bar, while our friends talked about film, we usually spoke about music...
Individually, we've worked with institutions such as OSESP (São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra), Emesp (São Paulo State Music School), OER (Experimental Repertoire Orchestra), the Festival Música Nova (New Music - contemporary music festival) and the Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival. We've done a lot of production in the area, having gathered a lot of practical experience. Now we want to bring the cinematic eye to this universe. We're currently cinematographers, photographers, filmmakers, graphic designers, audio technicians. We speak Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish...
We make videos and photos for publicity purposes, DVD and CD production, offer visual consultancy and any other project that brings together image and classical music.
We believe that filming, photographing or doing any image-creating work for classical music is completely different from doing such work for any other area. To scratch the surface on the subject and basic understanding are not enough - one needs an availability and deeper knowledge that are only possible through an extended immersion in this world. Something we believe we have a lot of.
